The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has revealed new strategies to win top positions in Kumi. This was revealed during the thanksgiving ceremony for Mary Gorrety Atemo, the Kumi district woman MP aspirant under the FDC ticket. The party leadership, spearheaded by party president Patrick Oboi Amuriat and FDC members of Parliament across the region, attended the ceremony.
The MPs, including Jonathan Ebwalu, Stella Isodo, and Joan Alobo, pledged to give full support to their party aspirants in Kumi to enable them to secure positions. The FDC MPs blamed the voters of Kumi district for massively voting for NRM leaders but not receiving vital services in return, unlike those who vote for the opposition.
“You have been voting for NRM leaders, but have you benefited?” Joan Alobo, the City woman MP for Soroti, asked. “At least in Soroti city, people vote for the opposition and receive better services, including good roads and a modern market, among others.”
Patrick Amuriat Oboi, the FDC party president, stated that the party aims to strengthen its structures from the lower to upper levels. Amuriat hinted that, as party president and a son of the soil, he would camp in villages across Kumi to mobilize people to support the party.
Amuriat encouraged the masses to follow the Teso agenda of “no cattle, no vote” for the ruling party, appealing to them to refrain from being used and dumped. He also pointed out that the party has some positions without candidates aspiring for them, such as the LC5 aspirant for FDC and LC3 positions, and appealed to party members to show interest in filling the gaps.
