Maracha District, 30 October 2024 – The Office of the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) in Maracha District has issued a statement clarifying the recent arrest of the LC3 Chairman of Awiriziri Subcounty, who stands accused of defrauding an elderly and disabled man within his jurisdiction. The RDC’s office emphasized that the arrest is a firm commitment to upholding the law and ensuring accountability, underscoring that this action is devoid of any political motivations.
In a brief statement, Assistant RDC Dramani Collins highlighted the seriousness of the allegations against the LC3 Chairman, noting that such actions directly undermine public trust and the welfare of vulnerable citizens. “This action is purely based on justice and the rule of law, with no political motivations behind it,” Collins stated, reinforcing the office’s commitment to integrity in public service.
The statement also shed light on ongoing investigations into similar cases related to the Parish Development Model (PDM) funds, suggesting that additional arrests may follow as the district intensifies its efforts to combat corruption. Collins reiterated that the office has been actively engaging with communities, educating them about the detrimental effects of corruption and the importance of transparency and integrity in public service.
Despite these community engagement efforts, Collins acknowledged the persistent nature of corruption in the district, stating, “We are moving decisively into enforcement to uphold the rights and welfare of vulnerable citizens.” He emphasized that the laws of the country apply equally to all individuals, regardless of their social or political status, serving as a stern warning that corruption will not be tolerated.
The RDC’s office urges the community to remain vigilant and report any suspected corrupt practices, as the fight against corruption continues to be a top priority for the district.
