The Uganda Police Force is mourning the loss of its former Inspector General of Police, Okoth Ogola, who served from 1981 to 1985. Ogola passed away on February 14, 2025, at Nakasero Hospital.
Current Inspector General of Police, Abas Byakagaba, has extended condolences to Ogola’s family, ensuring that the late IGP is honored in a manner fitting his legacy. The police will provide updates on funeral arrangements.
Ogola’s leadership and contributions to the Uganda Police Force will be remembered and cherished. His tenure as IGP played a significant role in shaping the force into what it is today.
The Uganda Police Force has undergone significant transformations over the years, with various IGPs contributing to its growth. Notably, Martin Okoth Ochola served as IGP from 2018 to 2024, preceding Abas Byakagaba’s tenure.
As the police force mourns the loss of Okoth Ogola, they will also celebrate his life and legacy. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
