The former Local Council Five Chairperson for Kaberamaido District, Albert Ejoku Osama, along with his daughter Hilder Angako and grandson Darius Ekongu, has been charged with computer misuse, theft of a phone, and exploitation. The charges stem from an incident involving a young woman, Sandrah Iteno, 25, who was allegedly victimized in a love triangle that took a dark turn.
According to sources, Hilder invited Sandrah to a social gathering at Helmat Motel in Kaberamaido Town. During the gathering, Sandrah was allegedly plied with alcohol until she became heavily intoxicated. The situation escalated when Hilder’s brother, Mark, and a group of other men, including Praise Solomon and four unidentified suspects, joined them. Mark allegedly provided more alcohol, including a bottle of Bond 7, before helping the inebriated Sandrah onto a waiting motorcycle.
Sandrah was then reportedly taken to the residence of Albert Ejoku Osama on Main Street, where she was stripped naked. The four other men allegedly joined Mark in a room where they further humiliated Sandrah by holding a flashlight, recording videos, and forcibly spreading her legs apart while she was crying for help but was largely unconscious. After the assault, the group allegedly stole her phone.
It has been revealed that Sandrah had been romantically involved with Mark, the son of the former chairperson, and had previously been in a relationship with Darius, Ejoku’s grandson. However, their relationships took a troubling turn when Albert Ejoku Osama, the father, became involved, reportedly renting a flat for Sandrah in Kaberamaido Town, where they lived together as a couple.
Tensions escalated when Hilder and her brother requested money from their father for medical treatment, only to be denied. Sandrah, on the other hand, asked for 200,000 Ugandan Shillings, which Ejoku directed her to withdraw from a nearby mobile money outlet. The situation came to a head when Sandrah attempted to withdraw the money from Hilder’s mobile money outlet using Ejoku’s phone. Hilder, shocked to see her father’s name appear on the transaction, confronted Sandrah. She accused her father of neglecting his family while spending lavishly on young women in town, which intensified the family conflict.
Police arrested Hilder Angako and Darius Ekongu, who were subsequently brought before Grade One Magistrate Jackline Kembabazi on Monday, August 19, 2024. They were remanded to Kaberamaido Prison until September 3rd. Meanwhile, Albert Ejoku Osama failed to respond to police summons in Kaberamaido, opting instead to present himself at East Kyoga Police, where he was granted police bond until August 28th.
District Police Commander SP David Otabong confirmed that four suspects remain at large and will face rape charges in connection with this incident. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities will provide updates as new developments emerge.
