On a momentous occasion, Gender Minister Betty Amongi Akena and Health Minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero generously donated over 41 million UgX to St. Peter Catholic Parish Anai. This significant contribution will support various church projects, enhance social services, and uplift the lives of Christians.
The donation, valued at 41 million, marks a pivotal moment in the St. Peter community’s spiritual development and a new phase of their shared faith. Minister Betty Amongi Akena emphasized the Church’s crucial role as a catalyst for comprehensive change, encompassing social, economic, and spiritual aspects.
To address the growing Christian population’s needs, Minister Akena stressed the importance of collaborative efforts between government and spiritual authorities to promote the construction of more churches. Her donation of 21 million UgX will be allocated to support the choir (1 million), Women’s Guild (10 million), and purchase church materials (10 million).
Similarly, Health Minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, also the Woman Member of Parliament for Lira City, contributed 20 million UgX towards purchasing chairs for the newly elevated St. Peter Catholic Parish, Anai. Minister Aceng pledged to continue supporting the community and reaffirmed her commitment in response to the outpouring of support.
The St. Peter’s Catholic Parish members acknowledged the significant challenge of financing a church and expressed gratitude to Ministers Akena and Aceng for their steadfast support.
