Ngora County was abuzz with joy and gratitude on November 3, 2024, as five couples exchanged marriage vows at St. Borromeo Catholic Church in a heartwarming ceremony presided over by the Bishop. Amidst this sacred celebration, Hon. Juliet Achayo Lodou, Ngora County’s dedicated Member of Parliament, was recognized for her tireless efforts in supporting and uplifting her community.
The Bishop’s presence was welcomed with deep appreciation, and thanks were extended for his ongoing dedication to fostering spiritual growth. In a special moment, the Bishop was praised for his recent initiative to drill a borehole at the parish, which was hailed as a significant contribution to improving access to clean and safe water for the community. Hon. Lodou was acknowledged for her consistent advocacy in supporting such community-oriented projects, highlighting her commitment to holistic development for her constituents.
As a devoted leader, Hon. Lodou addressed the congregation, reflecting on her ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of life in Ngora County. She shared her initiatives to advocate for clean water access, including lobbying for piped water connectivity for Kobwin Secondary School and surrounding areas, just as she had previously done for Odwarat Secondary School and its neighboring community. This development is a testament to her dedication to addressing both immediate and long-term needs within Ngora.
During her speech, Hon. Lodou also spoke out against the illegal practice of confiscating National Identity Cards as collateral for loans by moneylenders, which has become a widespread issue affecting Ugandans. She emphasized that this practice not only violates citizens’ rights but also threatens their social stability and access to essential services. “A National ID is a government property, issued for identification and access to services, not for collateral in financial transactions,” Hon. Lodou affirmed. She vowed to ensure that legal measures are enforced to prevent this practice, standing firmly in support of her constituents’ rights and dignity.
For the newlywed couples, Hon. Lodou presented gifts as a token of support for their new journey. She shared a message from Ephesians 5, underscoring the values of love, respect, and commitment that are foundational to marriage. “Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands as you do to the Lord. Husbands, love your wives just as Christ loved the Church and gave himself up for her,” she quoted, offering heartfelt blessings to the couples.
In closing, Hon. Lodou reaffirmed her dedication to the people of Ngora County. Her promise to stand with her constituents and continue championing development projects was met with enthusiastic applause. With the 2026 election approaching, Hon. Lodou proudly announced her intention to remain on the ballot, assuring the community of her steadfast commitment to their welfare.
The ceremony was a powerful reminder of Hon. Juliet Achayo Lodou’s role in strengthening Ngora County through her service, advocacy, and vision for the future. Her contributions resonated deeply with the community, leaving a lasting impact on this historic day of faith, love, and unity.
