The Iteso Cultural Union (ICU) has recently unveiled a refurbished Toyota Pajero to support its community engagement and cultural preservation initiatives in Teso.
The vehicle, which was previously abandoned at the ICU offices, underwent refurbishment by Kira Motors and will be instrumental in resource mobilization, outreach to clans, and the implementation of various cultural development projects.
During the unveiling ceremony, ICU Prime Minister Andrew Ochole emphasized the vehicle’s significance, stating that it will enhance efforts to mobilize resources for the construction of a cultural palace and facilitate important community projects.
Ochole noted the vehicle’s restoration as a reflection of the new administration’s commitment to reviving and utilizing resources effectively, rather than letting them go to waste.
The event also featured a special prayer led by Bishop Bernard Ebiau, who oversees religious affairs within the ICU. He prayed for divine guidance and safety in the vehicle’s use, commending the leadership of ICU for their dedication to community development.
Ochole reiterated ICU’s vision under Papa Emorimor’s leadership, which focuses on accountability, sustainability, and grassroots engagement. The vehicle, registered as UBG 589V, embodies this vision as ICU aims to be more active in the community rather than being office-bound.
Plans for the year include ambitious projects in education, health, and cultural revitalization. With the addition of this vehicle, along with others in their fleet, ICU expects to improve efficiency in reaching out to remote communities and ensuring that their initiatives remain connected to the people they serve.
The unveiling of the Pajero marks a proactive step towards a community-driven administration, reinforcing ICU’s commitment to cultural mobilization and development.
