    Capt Mike Mukula, the self-styled NRM National Vice Chairman for Eastern Uganda,  is facing eminent court action over the alleged malicious accusation of Pilgrims Africa in the contentious Soroti Golf Land.

    According to the Letter written by Kaganzi and Co Advocates, the legal counsel for Pilgrims Uganda Limited, Mukula has been given upto 31, August 2023 to issue a public apology or pay a damage fine of Shs 500 Million or face a court action.

    According to the letter seen by this website, the pilgrim laywer pinpointed Mukula’s August 21, 2023 post on the latter’s verified social media account.

    “On the 21st day of August 2023 at 11:22hrs, you posted the following tweet on X (formerly twitter), using your verified handle @Mukulaa:-
    ‘I have read with serious concern and consternation over the purported sale of Soroti Golf Course – club to Pilgrim company (a private company) Land which is a private good for the community in soroti city under Uganda Golf Union and administered by the city administration- The community has opted to go to court and contest this purported infringement and acquisition- we invite many lawyers to join this legal contest on behalf of the people @KagutaMuseveni @KiryowaKk #savegolfsoroti,” said the lawyer.

    According to Kaganzi, the above captioned publication was deliberately aimed at defaming their client.

    “Our client is a corporate entity, which has no connection whatsoever with the land in question and neither are they part of the court matter you were referring to. Your above mentioned publication is maliciously false and deliberately aimed at portraying our client as a land grabber – which is not true. Your defamatory tweet/publication, has caused and continues to inter alia cause severe damage to our client’s business and reputation, in the eyes of right thinking members of society,” he added.

    According to Pilgrim, the offending publication has so far been viewed over 41,300 times, reposted 56 times and quoted 6 times.
    They stated that the tweet/publication is exceptionally malicious given the fact that Cpt. Mukula had the opportunity to fact-check his allegations by searching the public records at court, the Lands Registry and Uganda Registration Services Bureau before publishing it to the whole world, but he opted not to. His intention in doing so is crystal clear according to Pilgrims.

    The demanded that  Mukuka should do the following;
    1. Immediately issue an unequivocal public apology to our client for the defamatory tweet/publication and delete the offending tweet/publication.
    2. Pay shs 500,000,000/= (Five hundred Million Uganda Shillings) as reparation for the gross reputational damage, economic loss and injury illegally visited upon our client, by the defamatory tweet/publication.

    Should the pilgrims’ demands not be met by close of business on the 31, August 2023, the former shall take legal action against Cpt Mike Mukula to secure his compliance at his cost and peril, as warned by the pilgrim lawyer.

    This site made several attempts to reach Capt. Mukula but none was successful.
