Kaberamaido District leaders have been called upon to establish an altar within the district quarters to strengthen their spiritual connection and commitment to God. This appeal was made during a prayer breakfast organized by Destiny Community Development Initiatives (DECODI), a Christian organization. The event was aimed at fostering unity between the district’s technical and political wings, which have often struggled to see eye to eye.
Assistant Inspector of Police (AP) James Israel Tukei emphasized the importance of the prayer breakfast, noting that it was organized to bring together both wings of leadership in the district. He highlighted that in many cases, there is tension between the technical and political leaders, and dedicating their lives to God through such events could help bridge these gaps.
Mr. Ddamba Henry, the Chief Administrative Officer of Kaberamaido District Local Government, reflected on the significance of prayer in their work. He mentioned that prayers were held before they assumed office, which helped build their faith and will continue to be a daily practice. He praised the district’s achievements, particularly the impressive water coverage, attributing these successes to teamwork, dedication, and their commitment to serving the people.
However, Mr. Ddamba also outlined some of the challenges the district faces, such as understaffing. He called for collective prayers to seek God’s intervention for additional funding to recruit more staff, which is crucial for improving service delivery in the district.
The District Chairperson, Mr. Victor Rex Ekesu, who was moved to tears during the event, shared his personal struggles, revealing that for the past four years, he had not had the opportunity to connect with God while serving in Kaberamaido. He urged everyone to redeem themselves to God, acknowledging that corruption has deeply affected the country. He expressed concern over the mistreatment of poor mothers in hospitals, noting that even healthcare workers need prayers to do their jobs with compassion and integrity.
Mr. Ekesu emphasized the need for prayer among all district workers, including those in the medical and education sectors, stressing that dedication to God is essential for improving service delivery. He urged the community to use faith as a “Holy Hammer” to shape their lives and assist those in need, especially by encouraging men in the villages to support their wives in daily tasks.
In conclusion, the leaders of Kaberamaido District have recognized the need for spiritual guidance and prayer in their work, and the call for establishing an altar in the district quarters is seen as a step towards achieving greater unity, integrity, and service to the people.
