Kaberamaido District has received a refrigerator worth 150 million shillings from the Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO). According to Dr. Samuel Richard Erechu, the district has partners who have been providing support through agricultural projects, including a climate-smart agricultural project that promotes sustainable farming practices.
The project, which will run for seven years, aims to boost the district’s agricultural sector by providing farmers with the best inputs for their produce. In addition, the district has received incubators for poultry farming in Ochero Sub County, as well as cooler boxes for preserving vaccines.
Dr. Erechu expressed gratitude to the FAO for their support, noting that the district’s revenue cannot afford such a machine. He also announced that the district will conduct vaccinations for birds, now that they have a proper storage facility for the vaccines.
Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, Mr. Kakaire Alamanzani, thanked the FAO for their support and urged the district to utilize the machine effectively. He also cautioned the production department to educate farmers and conduct regular visits to villages to educate them about diseases affecting their birds.
District Chairperson, Mr. Victor Rexs Ekesu, thanked the government and partners for their efforts to improve the livelihoods of farmers through vaccination programs, enabling them to earn a good income. He advised the head of the department to take good care of the machine, considering the significant investment made by the partners.
