Kaberamaido District – The Ministry of Education and Sports, in collaboration with the Executive Committee of the National Technical, Vocational, and Farm Institutes Sports Association (NTEVOFASIA), has announced the organization of National Games for all National Certificate Awarding Institutions. These games are set to take place at Kaberamaido Technical Institute in Kaberamaido District, following a letter issued on 19th July 2024 to all principals of government and private technical, vocational, and farm institutes.
The National Games aim to serve as a platform for the regular display of skills, talent identification, and nurturing. They are part of the government’s broader intervention to leverage the benefits of sports, including health, leisure, recreation, geographical and socio-cultural exploration, education, and overall development, all in preparation for the world of work.
Institutions are expected to prepare their teams to arrive at Kaberamaido Technical Institute by 4:00 PM on Wednesday, 21st August 2024. The competition will be preceded by orientation training and advance party activities, scheduled to take place from Sunday, 18th August to Wednesday, 21st August 2024. At least one games teacher from each institution is required to attend these preparatory sessions.
The National Games will feature various sports disciplines, including athletics, cross-country, basketball, and board games such as chess, draughts, Omwesso, and scrabble. Institutions are required to prepare separate teams for both male and female students, ensuring that all participants are bona fide students of their respective institutions.
