Oriam Seed Secondary School in Kaberamaido District has taken a significant step forward in enhancing its educational facilities, thanks to a brand-new consignment of computers donated by the Government of Uganda. The computers, procured through a contractor with MEMBA, highlight the NRM government’s commitment to prioritizing education.
The school formally received the computers from the district leadership of Kaberamaido District Local Government, represented by the Deputy RDC, who stood in for the President’s Office.
Chief Administrative Officer, Mr. Henry Damba, expressed gratitude to the government, through the Ministry of Education and Sports, for supporting the education sector in Kaberamaido District. He praised the government for making education a top priority, noting that this initiative is part of the government’s efforts to improve education in Uganda.
However, District Chairperson Victor Rex’s Ekesu applauded the government’s commitment while voicing concerns about the security of the computers, given the district’s history of theft. He cited previous incidents where computers were stolen from institutions like the judiciary, Kaberamaido Technical, St. Thomas Secondary School, and As One High School.
Reassuring the community, Deputy RDC Mr. Hood Kisenene vowed that computer thieves would soon face justice. He advised installing tracking devices to help locate the computers in case of theft. Additionally, he thanked the government for supporting Kaberamaido District’s education sector, which will help students learn more about computers.
