Kaberamaido, Uganda – Concerns regarding the accommodation of female students at Kobulubulu Senior Secondary School took center stage during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) convened on the school premises. Parents, administrators, and local officials convened to discuss pressing issues and chart a path forward for the institution.

The Chairperson of the Board of Governors, Mr. Egewu George Williams, emphasized the urgent need for constructing a girls’ hostel to provide secure accommodation within the school compound. He urged teachers to redouble their efforts in preparing students for upcoming examinations, stressing the importance of achieving commendable results.

During the AGM, Mr. Williams implored parents to actively support the school by ensuring timely payment of school fees and vigilant oversight of their children’s academic progress. He underscored the pivotal role of parental involvement in fostering a conducive learning environment.

Mrs. Sarah Ikala, the headteacher of Kobulubulu Senior Secondary School, highlighted the school’s growing enrollment and the implications of government policies concerning student transfers. She emphasized that students transferring from government schools risk being classified as private candidates during examinations. However, the school endeavors to support high-performing students through bursaries.

In enumerating the challenges facing the school, Mrs. Ikala underscored the absence of an administration block, inadequate accommodation for female students, deficient laboratory and library facilities, and the imperative need for fencing the school premises.

Hon. Moses Esemu, Chairperson of Lciii Kobulubulu Sub County, reiterated the notion that the school is a collective responsibility, urging parents to encourage their children to enroll at Kobulubulu Senior Secondary School. He advocated for the prioritization of technical education and commended teachers for their dedication towards achieving academic excellence.

In support of the students, the Secretary of Social Services at Kaberamaido District Local Government called upon students to exert themselves academically to alleviate the burdens faced by their parents. The call to action emphasizes the reciprocal relationship between students’ academic endeavors and the welfare of their families and communities.

As Kobulubulu Senior Secondary School navigates its challenges and aspirations, collaborative efforts among stakeholders remain paramount. The imperative to construct a girls’ hostel, enhance infrastructure, and foster academic excellence underscores the collective commitment towards nurturing the next generation of leaders.

In conclusion, the AGM serves as a forum for dialogue and collective action, reflecting the community’s dedication to the educational upliftment of its youth amidst prevailing challenges
