Kotido, Uganda – The Karamoja community has bid a heartfelt farewell to outgoing Brigade Logistics Officer Major Patrick Opio, praising his exceptional service and dedication to maintaining logistical excellence in the region.
“Lt. Aisu David, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee and DISO Kotido, hailed Major Opio’s leadership and commitment to community engagement. “Today, we gather to bid farewell to a remarkable individual who has served with exceptional dedication and excellence,” Lt. Aisu said. “As we celebrate Major Opio’s achievements, we welcome Major John Owor and urge him to build on the foundation laid.”
During the emotional farewell ceremony attended by local leaders, military personnel, and community members, Major Opio was lauded for his tireless efforts in ensuring seamless logistical support.
Lt. Col. Emma Kaferik, Commander of the 43rd Battalion, thanked Major Opio for his exemplary leadership and commitment to serving the community. “Your behavior has been like that of a reverend – transparent, friendly, and beyond reproach.”
Olal Joel, a representative of the friends, expressed gratitude to Major Opio for his hard work and dedication. “We appreciate your leadership and commitment to our community. Your legacy will continue to inspire us.”
Major Opio, who has served as Brigade Logistics Officer for several years, urged the community to cooperate with the incoming leadership and build on the foundation he has laid.
“I stand before you today with a mix of emotions – gratitude, humility, and a sense of accomplishment,” Major Opio said during his farewell speech. “As I bid farewell to this great community and my colleagues, I want to express my deepest appreciation for the support and cooperation you have accorded me during my tenure.”
“Your friendship and trust have made my work easier, and I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together. I’ve served in various capacities, but this community has become my second family.”
“I’m grateful for the guidance from my superiors, Col. DM Byaruhanga David and Lt. Col. Emma Kaferik, whose leadership and mentorship have shaped me into a better officer.”
“To my fellow soldiers, I urge you to continue serving with dedication and integrity. Remember that our role goes beyond military duty; we are ambassadors of hope and peace.”
“To the incoming logistics officer, Major John Owor, I offer my best wishes and support. Build on the foundation we’ve laid, and take our brigade to greater heights.”
“Thank you, Karamoja community, for embracing me as one of your own. I survived three ambushes by the grace of God, and your prayers and support sustained me.”
Brigade Commander 405, Col. DM Byaruhanga David, praised Major Opio’s exceptional service, saying, “Your dedication and expertise have been invaluable to our brigade. You will be deeply missed.”
The community leaders pledged to continue working closely with the military and support the incoming logistics officer.
“We will cooperate fully with the new leadership and maintain the strong relationship we have built,” said the Kotido Mayor.
RPC for Kidepo, SSP Achiria Godfrey, congratulated Major Opio on his successful tenure and encouraged the incoming logistics officer to build on his achievements.
“On behalf of the Uganda Police Force, I congratulate Major Opio on his successful tenure as Brigade Logistics Officer,” SSP Achiria Godfrey said. “Your dedication to duty, professionalism, and community engagement have earned you respect and admiration.”
“Major Opio’s legacy extends beyond logistics; he has built bridges between the military and civilian communities. His commitment to community policing has contributed significantly to the region’s stability.”
“To Major John Owor, the incoming logistics officer, I urge you to build on Major Opio’s achievements. Emulate his exemplary leadership, and foster stronger relationships between the military and community.”
Guest of Honor, LCV Lotee Paul Komol, thanked God for the collective efforts of the security personnel and welcomed the incoming logistics officer. “Let’s love and support one another.”
The incoming logistics officer, Major John Owor, promised to work collaboratively and cooperatively with all.The farewell ceremony was a testament to Major Opio’s impact on the community, with many praising his leadership and commitment.
The outgoing logistics officer was presented with gifts and certificates of appreciation for his service.The event concluded with nyama choma and drinks at Travellers Corner Bar and Restaurant in Kotido.
