Katakwi, Uganda – In response to a disturbing surge in road accidents along the Soroti-Moroto highway, the Katakwi Deanery, under the guidance of Bishop Joseph Eciru of Soroti Catholic Diocese, has organized a special prayer session to seek divine intervention.
Led by Father Patrick Achedu, the clergy and local faithful gathered to pray for an end to the alarming series of incidents, which have left many believing that spiritual forces are at play.
The prayer session, held today 24th September 2024 reflects the community’s deep-seated faith and hope that the power of prayer can restore safety and peace to the notorious stretch of road.
According to local residents, the frequency and severity of accidents have raised concerns about supernatural influences.
“We’ve lost many lives, and the community is living in fear,” said roadside business woman locally known as Jepi. “We believe that prayer can bring an end to this darkness.”
Bishop Eciru emphasized the importance of faith in times of crisis. “As people of God, we turn to prayer in times of need. We trust that our collective prayers will bring peace and protection to our roads”.
As the community continues to grapple with the causes of these accidents, they remain united in their faith and resolve to find solace in prayer.
