A total of 10 district councillors from Katakwi are in China for study tour on how to run local government business and service delivery.
The study tour is facilitated by the office of the vice president retired maj Jesica Rose Alupo in conjuction with the China embassy in Uganda.
The 10 councillors are the second batch to travel to china for the same course after the first group which was led by the LC5 chairperson Geofrey Omollo last year 2023
According to the information available the councillors left the country on Monday and they will spend 15 working days as they study how the chainese government deliver service among other issues.
The chairperson LC5 Katakwi Geofrey Omollo confirmed that the councillors are moving in two teams where by on team is led by Angella Akengo female councillor representing Angodingod Sub County and Joseph Ejoku representing Guyaguya Sub County.
According to Omolo, the Vice President’s plan is to have atleast 42 people go to China for the study tour in phases.
He added that the councillors will join the rest of other members from different countries who go to China for seminars and study tours.
This now brings atotal of 18 councillors from Katakwi who have travelled to China under the sponsorship of Her excellency the vice president rtd maj Jessica Alupo.
Omollo also took the opportunity to commend the vice president rtd maj jesica Alupo for lobbying from the chineese government and sponsor the political and technical people of Katakwi to go for seminars and study tours.
He was quick to note that the first team has started implementing what they learnt from China especially on issue related to service delivery and policy implementation.
He also hailed the Chinese embassy in Uganda for accepting to host and impact foreign knowledge to the Katakwi leadership in their country urging that this will greatly improve on service delivery
