Kidepo Region, Uganda – As the festive season approaches, the Regional Police Commander (RPC) for Kidepo Region, SSP Achiria Godfrey, has assured the public that the police are fully prepared to ensure their safety and security.
Speaking over the radio, SSP Achiria outlined the comprehensive security plan that has been put in place to prevent crime and maintain order during the festive season.
“We have deployed additional personnel to all major towns and cities in the region, including Kaabong, Kotido, and Abim,” SSP Achiria said. “These personnel will be conducting foot patrols and motorized patrols to ensure that the public is safe and secure.”
SSP Achiria also announced that CCTV cameras will be used to monitor public areas and deter crime.
“We urge the public to cooperate with our personnel and to report any suspicious activities to the authorities immediately,” SSP Achiria said.
In addition to the security measures, SSP Achiria also appealed to the public to celebrate responsibly and to save some resources.
“We want to remind the public to celebrate responsibly and avoid excessive spending,” SSP Achiria said. “Let’s save some resources for the new year.”
SSP Achiria also emphasized the importance of target hardening, a crime prevention strategy that involves making it difficult for criminals to access a property or premises.
“Security begins with you,” SSP Achiria said. “Lock your doors, install CCTV cameras on your premises, and be cautious of your security.”
Furthermore, SSP Achiria used the opportunity to caution people involved in charcoal burning and the sale of illicit Waragi.
“We will not tolerate any illegal activities in this region,” SSP Achiria warned. “We will arrest anyone found engaging in charcoal burning or the sale of illicit Waragi.”
The RPC’s primary intention is to ensure that the community celebrates peacefully without any major incidents.
“My major intention is to ensure that the community celebrates peacefully without any major incidents,” SSP Achiria said. “I wish the community the best of celebrations, and I urge them to cooperate with the police to achieve this goal.”
The police are yet to established a 24-hour emergency hotline for the public to report any incidents or suspicious activities.
“We are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for everyone to enjoy the festive season,” SSP Achiria said. “Let’s work together to make this festive season a peaceful and joyful one.”
