Kumi District has received an impressive 32 billion shillings in funding for development projects for the financial years 2022/2023 and 2023/2024, with an additional 15.4 billion shillings allocated for the 2024/2025 financial year.
This funding, provided under the government’s PDM initiative, aims to support income-generating projects for various groups, including youths, women, men, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.
Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Ahamada Washaki has urged beneficiaries to adhere to their approved business plans and use the funds wisely.
“It is crucial that we use these resources effectively to lift our communities out of poverty,” RDC Washaki emphasized.
“I call upon all beneficiaries to take their business plans seriously and make the most of this opportunity.”
RDC Washaki also warned SACCO leaders and civil servants against extorting money from beneficiaries, stressing the importance of transparency and accountability in implementing these projects.
“We must work together to ensure that these funds benefit the intended recipients and contribute to sustainable development in Kumi District,” he added.
With this significant funding, Kumi District has the potential to make strides in poverty reduction and sustainable development. Beneficiaries and leaders must collaborate to ensure that these resources are used efficiently and effectively to benefit the community.
