Emmanuel Ongala, the kumi district health officer revealed that Atutur general hospital received a patient with classical signs of M-pox disease on Monday and the sample was transported to Uganda research institute for verification and yesterday they informed that the suspect was positive of M-pox disease.
Ongala hinted that the victim is a resident of Bukedea town council and the two district are working hard to tress the contacts and they have so far tressed four and they are in Ongino Nursing compound for isolation.
Ongala states that the victim is currently recovering since the to districts are joining hands to ensure that he recovers from the disease.
According to Ongala, people should refrain from body contact, consistent washing of hands and a avoid hand shakes among others to avoid the spread of the disease.
He encouraged Teso communities to report any person with likely signs of M-pox to the leaders or rush the person to health facility for immediate assistance.
Ongala also alerts the district next to Mbale to be conscious of Ebola disease and report any strange bleeding to the health facilities and he appealed to the community to avoid body contacts with such people to reduce on the spread of the disease.
Meanwhile, Nelson Elungat Lakol the kumi district chairperson LC5 calls upon the locals to follow the standard operating procedures.
