Lawyer Hudu Hussein has been awarded the prestigious 2025 Uganda Development Champions Award and recognized as the best performing Resident District Commissioner (RDC) in Uganda. This recognition comes after a countrywide survey conducted by Public Opinions, acknowledging his contributions to achieving Uganda Vision 2040 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Hudu’s dedication to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party and its leadership has been evident throughout his career. He started as a volunteer at the NRM Secretariat and later served as General Secretary of the youth league. His leadership skills have been instrumental in uniting factions within the NRM leadership in Masaka City.
As the former RCC of Kampala, Hudu pioneered the smart city movement, which transformed the city’s streets and markets. He also successfully united taxi operators, creating a singular leadership recognized by KCCA. His time in Kampala, although brief, had a significant impact, giving the NRM party visibility in a largely opposition-dominated area.
In Masaka City, Hudu’s legal expertise helped resolve contentious land matters, and his mobilization skills united NRM and opposition factions to work towards the common good. He has been instrumental in reducing disorganization and disunity within the NRM party and has stood tall on service delivery, particularly for socio-economic empowerment programs.
Currently serving as the RDC for Kumi district in Eastern Uganda, Hudu’s commitment to development and leadership has earned him recognition as one of the best RDCs in the country.
