Kumi, Uganda – The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Kumi, Ahamada Washaki, has expressed his gratitude to the National Water and Sewerage Corporation’s (NWSC) Board of Directors for their visit to the district.
The Board, led by Chairman Alhajj Dr. Badru Kiggundu, met with local leaders and stakeholders to discuss ways of expanding water coverage in Kumi Municipality and surrounding areas.
RDC Washaki hailed the visit as a significant milestone in the district’s quest for improved access to safe water. “We are privileged to host the NWSC Board of Directors and grateful for their commitment to expanding water coverage in our area,” he said.
Dr. Kiggundu assured the district leaders that NWSC is committed to prioritizing safe water provision to the people of Uganda. “We recognize the importance of access to clean water and sanitation, and we will work tirelessly to ensure that every Ugandan has access to these basic services,” he said.
The visit comes as a boost to the district’s efforts to improve water coverage, which currently stands at 70%. The NWSC Board of Directors pledged to support the district in achieving 100% water coverage in the near future.
RDC Washaki thanked the Government of Uganda for prioritizing safe water provision to its citizens. “We appreciate the government’s efforts in ensuring that every Ugandan has access to safe and clean water,” he said.
The meeting was attended by local leaders, NWSC officials, and other stakeholders.
