Atemo Mary, the Kumi Woman MP hopeful for 2026, has demonstrated her commitment to community service with a remarkable display of compassion and dedication. She began by leading a charity cleanup in Nyero Town, where she rallied locals to join her in cleaning up the streets and promoting a healthier environment.
As she made her way to the women’s ward at Nyero Health Centre III, Atemo was deeply moved by the sight of expectant mothers in need. Touched by their plight, she generously donated over 70 basins to support these women during their time of need. This selfless act has earned her widespread acclaim and admiration from the community.
Atemo’s efforts come ahead of her highly anticipated thanksgiving ceremony, set to take place at Nyero Town Council Grounds. The event will be attended Tomorrow 8th January by top FDC leaders, including FDC Party President Patrick Oboi Amuriat and Secretary General Nandala Mafabi. As she addressed the gathering,
Atemo outlined her vision for Kumi district, emphasizing her desire to represent the interests of women, youth, and marginalized communities. She expressed her commitment to promoting women’s empowerment through initiatives such as SACCOs and vocational training, as well as improving access to quality healthcare and education.
Atemo also highlighted her passion for environmental conservation and sustainable practices, underscoring the need for collective action to protect the district’s natural resources.
Atemo’s words resonated deeply with the crowd, particularly 56-year-old Akello Immaculate, who was at the hospital receiving medication. “I always used to hear people say that Atemo is still young,” Akello said. “Unfortunately, on seeing her and talking to her, i agreed and asked all those who were close to send the young lady to Parliament so that the age that they are talking about gets groomed to a better leader as she ages.”
As Atemo continues to build momentum for her campaign, her dedication to community service and her commitment to representing the needs of Kumi district’s most vulnerable populations are likely to inspire widespread support and admiration.
