A long-standing land dispute in Lira District is set to be addressed by the Minister of State for Lands, Dr. Sam Mayanja. The dispute revolves around the Uganda Police’s claim of ownership of land in Erute, Ireda, Shamba, and Ojwina, which has led to the collection of funds from individuals and the misplaced enforcement of a High Court ruling
Dr. Mayanja’s intervention comes after a petition by Hon. Julius Acon Bua, seeking resolution to the conflict. The Minister has scheduled a meeting for Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 11 am, where he will engage with the general public, affected persons, the Uganda Police, and other concerned entities to resolve the dispute.

As a seasoned lawyer with over 45 years of experience, Dr. Mayanja brings a wealth of knowledge in land law and dispute resolution ². His efforts to address land injustices and protect the rights of Ugandan citizens are commendable, as seen in his previous interventions in Kiryandongo and Mbarara land disputes .
