In a gesture of commitment to grassroots leaders, the LC1 chairman of Ararak B Village in Kaberamaido Town Council, Mr. Olara Qurinino, has received a motorcycle pledged by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni during his recent tour of the Teso region.
The red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number UGH 586N, was officially handed over to Mr. Olara on November 20, 2024, by the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Kaberamaido District, Mr. Lotem Lions Lokori. This fulfilled the promise made by the president during a mega rally at Kaberamaido Township Primary School playground, where Mr. Olara had welcomed the president and requested transport to facilitate mobilization efforts in his area.
The 75-year-old chairman expressed his gratitude for the president’s support, stating that the motorcycle will ease his work in mobilizing the community for government programs such as Emyooga, the Parish Development Model (PDM), and the 2026 presidential elections. Mr. Olara revealed that the funds for the motorcycle, amounting to UGX 5.2 million, were sent directly to his mobile account by the State House Controller. He added UGX 400,000 from his savings to purchase the motorcycle for UGX 5.4 million.
Due to his advanced age, Mr. Olara noted that he has hired someone to ride the motorcycle on his behalf as he continues his duties as LC1 chairman.
During the handover ceremony, RDC Lotem Lions Lokori commended the president for honoring his pledge, describing it as a testament to his dedication to the people of Kaberamaido District. He urged Mr. Olara to use the motorcycle effectively for community mobilization and to rally support for the NRM party ahead of the 2026 elections.
“This is a clear sign of the president’s commitment to serving the people. The NRM government is doing great things for Kaberamaido and Uganda at large, and we must continue to support it,” said RDC Lokori.
The event has been welcomed as a symbol of government responsiveness to the needs of local leaders and their communities.
