Lion Sam Olato, the youngest president in the club’s history, was officially inaugurated as the President of Soroti District Lions Club for the 2024-2025 lionistic year. The vibrant event took place on Saturday evening at the Soroti Lions Club hall, marking a significant moment in the club’s history.
The colorful dinner ceremony buzzed with excitement as members of the club gathered to witness the ceremonial transition of leadership from Lion Dr. Naume Amuron to Lion Olato. The evening was further illuminated by the presence of distinguished guests, including Lion Dr. Wilson Kasoolo from the Lions Club of Jinja, who graced the occasion as the chief guest, and Lion Dr. John Ekure from Kumi Orthopaedic, who served as the guest of honor.
The highlight of the evening came when Lion Peter called Lion Sam Olato to the stage. As Olato approached the podium, the room hushed in anticipation. With a warm and humble smile, he received the club’s gavel from Lion Dr. Naume Amuron, symbolizing the official handover of leadership.
Lion Dr. Amuron, in her remarks, reflected on the club’s achievements during her tenure, including notable community projects such as the tree planting initiative and the distribution of textbooks valued at $300 to Teso College Aloet, Bethany Girls, and UMCAT School.
In his inaugural address, President Olato expressed heartfelt gratitude for the trust and support of his fellow members. With a clear vision for the future, he outlined his commitment to expanding the club’s membership from the current 13 to over 20 and leading the club towards greater community service and growth.
The evening continued with a delightful feast of nyama choma and lively entertainment, capping off a memorable celebration as Soroti District Lions Club embarks on a new chapter under the leadership of Lion Sam Olato.
