Dokolo, Uganda – Five suspects have been arrested, and three others remanded at Dokolo Government Prison, over allegations of breaking into Dokolo District offices and stealing ten computer equipment.
Babra Akech, the Resident District Commissioner of Dokolo, briefed the press on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, stating that the three arrested by police on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, are still being held at Dokolo Central Police Station as investigations continue.
Akech noted that the thieves stole two computers from the Audit Department, two from the Planning Unit, and six from the Finance Department within a month.
Godfrey Ogwang Okello, the Chief Administrative Officer of Dokolo, expressed stress over the incident, citing the district’s efforts to facilitate police department security at the district headquarters, which is also equipped with CCTV cameras.
James Otoo Apili, the District Chairperson, announced plans to recruit local security personnel to guard the district, citing police failure to perform their duties.
