Story By Chris Woo,
A significant number of teachers at Acaba Technical School in Oyam District have failed to report for duty after missing their May salaries.
Speaking to press, the headteacher of Acaba Technical School, Celestino Akar, confirmed that 18 out of 19 teachers had not received their May salaries due to the ongoing migration from the Integrated Personal Payroll System (IPPS) to the Human Capital Management System (HCM). As a result, teacher attendance has been severely impacted, with only four teachers present by press time.
The issue was further clarified by Francis Ayo, the Principal Human Resource Officer of Oyam District, who explained that the delay stemmed from the migration process. According to Ayo, out of 2,500 civil servants in the district, 2,268 have successfully transitioned to HCM, leaving 232 still affected by the process.
Despite the setbacks, Ayo assured that all affected employees should receive their salaries once the system integration is completed, with a projected timeline of June 30, 2025. He urged civil servants to remain patient and embrace the new system.
Meanwhile, David Adea, the District Education Officer of Oyam, acknowledged that his office had received similar salary complaints from teachers at Loro Core PTC. Adea encouraged the affected educators to continue teaching while efforts to resolve the issue were underway.
