Soroti Central Police Station are investigating death of one Else Francis who committed suicide in the bush after committing defilement.
The deceased has been identified as Francis Else aged 22, a resident of Touch Village, Dakabella Parish, Arapai Sub-County in Soroti District.
Damalie Nachuha, the East Kyoga Regional Police Commanda has confirmed the incident asserting that On 1st January, 2025, at approximately 3:50 pm, Odudui Police Station received a report from Mr. Oluka Moses regarding a tragic incident.
Preliminary investigations revealed that earlier the same day, at around 2:23 pm, a report was filed by Okiror Silver at the Odudui Police Station, alleging the defilement of his 17-year-old daughter, Ideu Judith, by Elasu Francis the deceased. Following this distressing news, it is alleged that Elasu Francis, in a state of despair, took a nylon rope, went into the bush, and committed suicide by hanging.
The body of the diseased was discovered hanging from a dry tree by his brother.
“the scene was visited by the Detective CID team led by D/ASP Ojok Richard Tom, along with Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) and other uniformed personnel”, Damalie said in a statement.
The body wad transported to Nakatunya City Mortuary for a postmortem.
“We would like to emphasize that such an act of taking one’s life is deeply condemned. Life is a precious gift from God Almighty, and no individual has the right to take it away. We urge members of the community to seek help and speak out in times of distress. Mental health is vital, and support is available for those in need”, police said in their statement.
Further investigations are ongoing to ensure a thorough understanding of the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
