Police in Oyam District are intensifying their search for a man accused of sodomizing his 25-year-old wife, leading to her tragic death. The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on August 8, 2024, in Acek-were B village, Omal Parish, Ngai Sub-county.
The victim, identified as Sarah Angom, sustained severe injuries after the suspect allegedly returned home intoxicated and assaulted her. Angom initially sought treatment at Ngai Health Center III and was later referred to Abok Health Center IV. Due to the family’s financial constraints, she could not be transported to Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala and sadly passed away at home on August 29, 2024.
The suspect was arrested on August 13, 2024, and detained at Nagi Police Post. However, he mysteriously disappeared after being released on bond. Authorities were initially unaware of the gravity of the case, as it had not been fully reported to the Oyam District CID office.
A postmortem revealed that Angom suffered significant injuries. The LC3 Chairperson of Ngai Sub-county criticized the decision to grant bail to a suspect involved in such a serious crime and called on the public to assist the police in locating and apprehending the fugitive.
