Kampala – Information reaching this site states that Manchester United’s star goalkeeper, André Onana, will soon be stepping onto Ugandan soil, not for a casual visit, but to showcase his skills on the football pitch. Onana, who has been a crucial part of Manchester United’s lineup, will be accompanying the Cameroon national team as they prepare to face Zimbabwe in a Group J match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. The match is scheduled to take place at the iconic Namboole Stadium on September 10th, 2024.
Zimbabwe, due to the lack of an approved stadium in their country, will be hosting their “home” games in Uganda. They have arranged to play their opening AFCON qualifier against Kenya at the same venue on September 6th, just four days before their clash with Cameroon. The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) had initially considered renting a stadium in South Africa, which hosts a large Zimbabwean diaspora, but ultimately decided that Namboole offered a more convenient and cost-effective solution for their logistical needs.
ZIFA has already announced the ticket prices for their highly anticipated match against Cameroon, with ordinary tickets priced at UGX 15,000, VIP tickets at UGX 50,000, and VVIP tickets at UGX 100,000.
André Onana’s presence is expected to draw attention, as football fans in Uganda and across the region are eager to witness the Manchester United goalkeeper in action. This match is not just a regular AFCON qualifier; it is set to be a thrilling encounter with Onana likely playing a pivotal role in Cameroon’s quest for qualification.
Uganda, known for its passionate football fans, is expected to turn out in large numbers for this historic match, making it one of the highlights of the AFCON qualifiers.
