Thousands of enthusiastic supporters today thronged Kaburepuli Primary School in Ochero Town Council, Kaberamaido District, to welcome President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as he addressed a major campaign rally in the area. The event drew massive crowds from across the district, filling the school grounds and surrounding roads with chants, songs, and yellow flags as the President arrived.

In his address, President Museveni commended the people of Kaberamaido for their development efforts, particularly in improving access to safe water. He revealed that out of the 234 rural villages in the district, 217 now have boreholes — representing 91% water coverage — with only 17 villages remaining without boreholes.
“We are doing well because 217 out of 234 rural villages in Kaberamaido now have boreholes. That is 91% water coverage. The remaining 17 villages will also be worked on,” Museveni told the cheering crowd.
The President highlighted several ongoing water initiatives, including two completed solar-powered water projects in Kaberamaido and an expanded piped water and sanitation program in Ochero Town Council. He also noted improvements to the Apapai water system and mini-irrigation projects in Kobulubulu Sub-county.

“We shall expand water supply to all small towns in Kaberamaido,” Museveni assured.
On infrastructure, the President addressed public concerns over the need for tarmac roads, advising residents to focus first on wealth creation.
“Do not put roads before wealth. You cannot sleep on tarmac roads. Work hard, produce, and get out of poverty — the roads will follow,” he said.
Museveni also praised the progress of the Bukungu–Kaberamaido–Kumi (BKK) ferry project, noting that the ferry is already in place, with construction of the landing site nearing completion.

The Speaker of Parliament, who also attended the rally, confirmed that the ferry docks are under construction and that the ferry will be officially launched in December.
The President further highlighted education and health improvements in the district, citing 45 government primary schools and six secondary schools. However, he acknowledged that some parishes still lack primary schools, contrary to the government policy requiring each parish to have one, and each sub-county to have a secondary school.

He announced the ongoing upgrade of Murem Health Centre II to a Health Centre III, and the planned establishment of a new Health Centre III at Olyamo.
First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni, also addressed the gathering, urging residents to preserve the peace and stability achieved under the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
“Uganda has enjoyed peace and stability under the leadership of the NRM. I encourage you to vote for the President and the entire NRM team so that we continue building our shared inheritance as Ugandans,” she said.

The President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving water access, education, health, and infrastructure in Kaberamaido.
