Kaberamaido, Uganda – Thousands of jubilant supporters on Thursday poured into Kaburepuli Primary School in Ochero Town Council, Kaberamaido District, and later into Kalaki Town Council, to welcome President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who addressed two massive campaign rallies in the Teso sub-region.
The President’s arrival in both Kaberamaido and Kalaki drew unprecedented crowds, with supporters clad in yellow NRM attire lining the streets, waving flags, and singing party songs as they cheered for the Head of State. The rallies demonstrated the ruling National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) strong political presence and growing momentum in Teso ahead of the 2026 general elections.
At Kaburepuli Primary School, President Museveni commended the people of Kaberamaido for embracing government programs, particularly in expanding access to clean and safe water. He revealed that out of the 234 rural villages in Kaberamaido, 217 now have boreholes, representing 91% water coverage, leaving only 17 villages yet to benefit.

“We are doing well because 217 out of 234 rural villages in Kaberamaido now have boreholes. That is 91% water coverage. The remaining 17 villages will also be worked on,” Museveni said to loud applause.
The President highlighted several completed and ongoing water projects, including two solar-powered water systems, the expansion of the Ochero Town Council piped water and sanitation program, and mini-irrigation schemes in Kobulubulu Sub-county. He assured residents that his government will continue to expand clean water supply to every corner of the district.
“We shall expand water supply to all small towns in Kaberamaido,” Museveni assured.
On infrastructure, President Museveni addressed public concerns about road conditions, urging residents to focus on wealth creation first.
“Do not put roads before wealth. You cannot sleep on tarmac roads. Work hard, produce, and get out of poverty, the roads will follow,” he said.
He also commended progress on the Bukungu–Kaberamaido–Kumi (BKK) ferry project, revealing that the ferry is already in place, with construction of the landing sites nearly complete. The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, who accompanied the President, confirmed that the ferry docks are under construction and will be launched in December to boost transport and trade between Kaberamaido, Buyende, and Kumi.
Later in Kalaki Town Council, similar scenes of excitement unfolded as thousands gathered to hear the President speak about his government’s continued investment in Teso. He highlighted education and health improvements, citing 45 government primary schools and six secondary schools in Kaberamaido District, though acknowledging gaps where some parishes still lack schools.
He announced that Murem Health Centre II is being upgraded to Health Centre III, while another Health Centre III will be established at Olyamo, along with plans to expand healthcare infrastructure in Kalaki District.
First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni, also addressed the rallies, urging residents to protect the peace and stability secured under the NRM government.
“Uganda has enjoyed peace and stability under the leadership of the NRM. I encourage you to vote for the President and the entire NRM team so that we continue building our shared inheritance as Ugandans,” she said.
The NRM leadership In Teso praised President Museveni’s renewed focus on improving water access, education, health, and infrastructure in the region, describing the rallies in Kaberamaido and Kalaki as a clear sign of public trust and renewed hope in the NRM’s vision for transformation.
