MBARARA. The Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) community is on edge after a fourth-year medical student, Paddy Segawa, disappeared under mysterious circumstances on September 22, 2023.
Segawa’s sister, Ritah Nantoogo, told the media that her brother was last seen at Vybs Lounge in Mbarara city, where he had gone for fun. Closed-circuit cameras at the lounge captured Segawa leaving alone at around midnight, but no one has seen him since.
Nantoogo said she reported her brother’s disappearance to Mbarara central police station last week, but police have yet to provide an update on the investigation.
Rwizi Regional Police Spokesperson SP Samson Kasasira confirmed the incident adding that police are investigating Segawa’s disappearance. He urged anyone with information on Segawa’s whereabouts to contact the police.
Segawa’s disappearance has caused widespread panic and concern among MUST administrators and students. Many are wondering what happened to Segawa and whether he is safe.
Mbarara University of Science and Technology administrators have appealed to the public to come forward with any information about Segawa’s whereabouts. They have also assured the university community that they are working closely with the police to investigate his disappearance.
