Speaking to our reporters, Minister Ecweru revealed that Omome had been meticulously crafting “Ejie lo Teso” before his untimely passing. “Papa Omome had almost completed the book when he entrusted it to me for review,” Ecweru shared. “I don’t know why he insisted I read it, but I took on the task with reverence.”
The book, according to Minister Ecweru, delves deep into the tumultuous period of insurgency that engulfed Teso in 1987. It vividly recounts the formation of the Uganda People’s Army (UPA) by Teso natives, who bravely stood against the NRM government’s forces in defense of their homeland.
Ecweru acknowledged the emotional weight carried by Omome’s unfinished manuscript. “He handed me his dream, his passion, and his pain,” the Minister reflected. “I made the necessary adjustments to ensure his vision was fully realized.”
During Omome’s solemn send-off ceremony, Minister Ecweru announced that “Ejie lo Teso” is now complete and ready for publication. The book stands as a testament to Omome’s enduring legacy and his relentless pursuit of truth and justice for Teso.
