Terego West County Member of Parliament, Hon. Leku Joel, is leaving a lasting legacy in his constituency as several projects he lobbied for have begun to materialize, marking another milestone in his development-oriented leadership.
The latest achievement includes the successful delivery and installation of ICT equipment across community schools and institutions in Terego District. The multi-million-shilling project, funded by the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) under the Uganda Communications Universal Service and Access Fund (UCUSAF), was rolled out between Friday, 31st October, and Saturday, 1st November 2025.
Through his tireless lobbying efforts, Hon. Leku secured computers for Mt. Wati Secondary School, Katrini Secondary School, and Owaffa Secondary School. He also pushed for the establishment of a community computer laboratory in Leju Town Council, an initiative aimed at equipping young people and community members with digital literacy skills to compete in the modern information age.

In addition to the ICT infrastructure, the legislator secured a Shs 10 million Social Corporate Responsibility package from UCC to support local faith-based and community institutions. The funds were disbursed directly into the accounts of six beneficiaries: Ogboa Community Primary School, Micu Church of Uganda in Bileafe Sub-county, Arindia Church of Uganda, Olea Catholic Church in Katrini Sub-county, Ofunya Muslim Group in Aiivu, and Obofia Community Primary School in Leju Town Council.
A letter dated 19th June 2024, authored by Hon. Leku Joel to the UCC Executive Director, outlined his requests to support community schools and religious institutions, arguing that ICT access and community empowerment were key to bridging development gaps in rural Terego.
Speaking during the installation exercise, some community leaders hailed the outgoing MP for his unwavering commitment to service delivery and for lobbying projects that directly impact education and technology advancement in the area.
Mr. Francis Ojoro, a teacher at Mt. Wati Secondary School, expressed gratitude, saying the new computers will transform the teaching and learning process. “Our learners will now have access to digital tools that expose them to global knowledge and innovation,” he said.
As he prepares to exit Parliament, Hon. Leku Joel’s efforts stand as a testament to how effective representation can attract national resources to local communities. His parting gifts, ICT infrastructure and community support projects, are poised to enhance education, promote digital inclusion, and strengthen social development across Terego District.
