A 26-year-old mother of twins, Bayitiyo Kevin, from Moyo District is struggling to get justice after her husband, Titia Ismail, allegedly burnt one of their twins to death and chased her away in December 2024.

Kevin reported the incident to Ayivu East Police Post, but to her surprise, the police registered the case as assault instead of murder under SD Reference 28/5/02/2025.
During an interview, Kevin expressed frustration and pain over the police handling of the case. “My husband became violent, strangled me, and then burnt our twin child with hot water,” she recounted.

Instead of pursuing her husband, who is on the run, the police advised Kevin to return to Moyo District. A relative of her husband had also suggested she leave before she gets murdered.

The Deputy RCC in charge of Ayivu Division, Godfrey Jonah Mbigitti, condemned the murder and assured the public that the security forces are working to serve justice for Kevin.

Kevin has been living on the streets with her child until a Good Samaritan offered her temporary shelter and food. Efforts to get a comment from the Ayivu East police department were unsuccessful.
