Hon. Santa Alum Ogwang, the Oyam District Woman Member of Parliament, has launched a five-day free dental health camp in partnership with Community Focus Initiative (CFI). The camp, which began on March 3, 2025, will run until Friday, March 8, and will be conducted at Iceme Health Centre III in Oyam North and Acimi Health Centre III in Myene Sub County for Oyam South.
According to Christ Ongom, the Vice Chairperson LC5 of Oyam District and Alum’s Political Assistant, the camp aims to improve dental health, which is often neglected despite being a common health complication. Ongom emphasized that MP Alum will cover all expenses, making the camp entirely free of charge.
Patrick Omara Olwol, Senior Medical Officer at Anyeke Health Centre IV, confirmed that dental sickness is a significant health issue in the area, with at least 20 out of 200 patients received daily presenting with dental cases. He highlighted the need for extended dental health services to Health Centre III facilities in various sub-counties.
Nyana Gloria Mercy, a patient who has suffered from dental sickness for over three years, expressed her gratitude to MP Alum and CFI for this timely initiative. This is not the first time MP Alum has organized a medical camp, having previously brought health experts to serve patients with cervical cancer ¹.
