The Soroti Politics is intensely displaying controversial drama as the electoral commission shows green lights ahead of the forth coming elections.
Multiples of the Soroti City East have extremely raised mixed reactions after their Legislator Herbert Edmund Ariko on Friday 29th December, 2023 officially announced that he will abandon his own Soroti City East Division for Gweri County.
Ariko who has continued facing stiff resistance from majority of Soroti East electorates who disagreed with his 2022 bye – election victory, has commonly been accused of fueling the boundary confusion for his political benefits.
While addressing crowds who gathered at the Gweri Sub – County headquarters the memmber of parliament said “I have decided to return home and serve you my people of Gweri County, I will be contesting for the Member of Parliament Gweri in 2026.”
Adding, “I have two major reasons that have pushed me to come and contest in Gweri, including proper representation and delivery of smooth services.”
Meaning that his immediate rival Moses Atan Okia begins smiling in his walk over campaign to claim his grabbed seat in Soroti City East division.
Though Ariko has made his pronouncement, major analysts in the region have speculated that Gweri County may not be a walk over for him because of his politics of conflict.
Ariko now joins the race of the major contendants including the FDC’s Abel Opolot, Kenneth Esiangu Eitunganane,NRM’s Richard Elimu, David Asubu, Jacob Odela, Samuel Eninu and the incumbent Tom Julius Ekudo amongst other emerging politicians.
