The Soroti City Woman Member of Parliament, Joan Alobo Acom, has finally broken her silence following her incarceration in Soroti government prisons.
Alobo, who was earlier this month remanded alongside Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party President Patrick Amuriat Oboi, Soroti City West Division Member of Parliament Jonathan Ebwalu, and several others, was arrested for conducting a protest under the slogan “NO COW, NO VOTE.”
After their release on bail on Wednesday, the opposition leaders had not yet addressed their electorates. However, the Soroti City woman legislator has now released a heartfelt statement regarding her incarceration and temporary freedom.
In her statement, she expressed deep appreciation for her voters and the individuals who played a critical role in securing her release, emphasizing her ongoing commitment to representing the people of Soroti City. Here is the full message from Joan Alobo:
It’s with heartfelt gratitude that I take this opportunity and singular honour to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to all my constituents of Soroti City for the unwavering love, prayers, goodwill, and support you have shown me during the difficult time of my incarceration (being in Police and Prison). Your steadfastness has given me strength and humility. I do not take your support for granted.
To my voters, you are the best. I will stand for you, speak for you, and stand with you until the end. Nothing will intimidate me from advocating on your behalf. You are one in a million, and I love you deeply.
