Kaberamaido– The community of Oriamo sub -county in Kaberamaido District are now relieved after receiving a fully equipped health facility from Olale foundation and Ida Harris from the United State of America.
The facility came as a donation from the good hearted people of the United States of America in partnership with charity organizations, namely Olale foundation and Ida Harris.
The locals believe that the launched health center III facility handed to government shall now solve the challenge of inadequate health services in their community.
The District Chairperson Kaberamaido District local Government, Victor Rex Ekesu pronounced the community’s excitement to the efforts of Mr. Douglass Allan, the Harris Founding partner and Ida Harris to enhance health services to the local communities in Kaberamaido District as whole.
He noted that the facility will help to ease the workload of Alwa health center III serving the population of more than 23,000 people who have been getting treatment at the facility.
Ekesu also noted that some of the elderly people during the time of COVID-19 never went for vaccination because of the longer distances as some of the mothers were unable to take their children for immunization.
“They had to walk for about 30 kilometers looking for such services, others resorted to Lwala Hospital which is a private facility to seek treatment,” said Ekesu.
He urged the community members to make the best use of the facility, especially now that expectant mothers will have no excuse of failure to receive antenatal care.
The Member of Parliament for Kaberamaido County, Alfred Olale Edakasi, also the Director Ida Harris Community Medical center in his remarks said that the facility comes as a give back to the electorates who entrusted him with their votes.
He then thanked Douglas Allan, Harris Founding partner Ida Harris Community Medical center for honoring his request to construct the health facility which is going to help poor communities and the people of Oriamo Sub – county and those at extreme shores of Lake Kyoga.
He also said that the government of Uganda will continue providing medical equipment to the facility as one of the key pillars in the manifesto.
