The initiative by MTN Uganda to establish an ICT laboratory at St. Francis Primary School for the Blind is a remarkable step toward enhancing digital inclusion for visually impaired children.
By investing UGX 1 Billion to provide 10 fully installed computers, internet access for a year, and security measures, MTN Uganda and Sense Uganda are addressing critical barriers that hinder the learning process for these students.
The insights shared by Edward Otim from Sense Uganda highlight the potential and capabilities of children with visual impairments, emphasizing the importance of providing them with the right tools and opportunities to bridge learning gaps.
“We are highly grateful to MTN for the greater initiatives of supporting the children living with disabilities, more than one billions shillings have been invested in this initiatives” Otim said.
The significant increase in resources from just 16 computers to a fully equipped lab will undoubtedly transform the educational landscape for the 300 learners at the school.
Reverend Sister Rose’s acknowledgment of the challenges faced by the school underscores the urgent need for such initiatives.
Overall, this partnership exemplifies a commitment to fostering an inclusive educational environment and empowering all children, regardless of their physical ability.
This project not only enhances the learning experience but also paves the way for a brighter future for visually impaired students.
