Kotido, Uganda – MuryaGaz FC, founded by Hajji Ibrahim Akorio, a dedicated service provider and engineer by training, is making waves in the district’s sports scene.
Hajji Akorio’s selfless efforts extend beyond sports. He provides essential support to vulnerable communities in Kaabong district with posho (food aid), demonstrating his commitment to giving back.
Through MuryaGaz FC, Hajji Akorio aims to nurture young talent, promote discipline, and steer youth away from negative influences.
Currently competing in the Uhuru tournament, MuryaGaz FC has already secured two victories and a draw against Lokomebu. With one game remaining against Kingston on Wednesday, the team is poised to advance to the next stage.
The club boasts a talented 20-man squad, expertly guided by Coach Kujo B Mahad.
“MuryaGaz FC is more than just a soccer team – it’s a family,” said Coach Mahad. “We’re proud to represent our community and showcase the talent and potential of our youth.”
The Uhuru tournament features 10 teams, divided into two groups:
Group A:
– Agape
– 405 Bde
– Victor
– West Bridge
– Panyangara
Group B:
– 43 Battalion
– Nakapelimoru
– MuryaGaz FC
– Lokomebu
– Kingston
Deputy Diso Kotido First praised Hajji Akorio’s initiative, saying, “Hajji Ibrahim’s vision is inspiring. MuryaGaz FC is not only developing soccer skills but also shaping the district’s youth into responsible citizens.”
Looking ahead, Hajji Akorio plans to establish a football and marathon academy, providing a platform for youth development. His sights are also set on the NRM Cup 2025, where he hopes to field teams to compete, Insha Allah.
As the tournament unfolds, the community eagerly anticipates the club’s progress. Will they emerge victorious? Only time will tell.
