Katakwi district, Vice President Jessica Alupo emphasized the importance of Muslim parents investing more in their children’s education during an interaction with the local Muslim community. Alupo stressed that such investments would not only benefit families but also contribute to the development of the Muslim community and Uganda as a whole.
Speaking ahead of the Eid Al Fitr celebrations, Alupo encouraged Muslims to seize the opportunity presented by the newly launched Islamic Banking services in the country. Islamic banking adheres to principles that prohibit the charging of interest on loans (RIBA), instead focusing on profit-sharing and supporting beneficiary projects.
Alupo highlighted that the recently established Salaam Bank would provide Muslims with comprehensive banking services, including access to funds under the Parish Development Model for household wealth creation. She expressed optimism that this initiative would empower the Muslim community economically.
Furthermore, Alupo affirmed the commitment of the NRM Government, led by President Yoweri Museveni, to collaborate with the Muslim community in fostering development and enhancing household wealth. She emphasized the importance of continuing divine practices beyond the holy month, integrating them into everyday life.
The message from Vice President Alupo underscores the significance of education and economic empowerment within the Muslim community, aligning with broader efforts to promote sustainable development and prosperity in Uganda.
