The community of Atoot parish of Atoot Sub – county in Ngora district on Monday commenced their Secondary School construction to ease access to education services as many of their children trek for close to 8 kilometers every day.
The struggle has come a long way after three years of resource mobilization to see the clearing of the site begin.
Irene Abeja, a single mother of seven children is optimistic that she will be one of those to get relieved as education services are brought to her the door step.
“Our community is overwhelmed with the illiterate children due to lack of a nearby secondary school”, she said.
In this context, the community received relief from their legislator Juliet Achayo Lodou who delivered 100 bags of cement, 15,000 bricks, fuel and construction water valuing a tune of Ush. 20 Million.
“It has been within my manifesto to enhance education services across the constituency of Ngora, as a leader with a large heart, I have decided to conjoin myself with this community in raising a school and link them with government for a possible hand”, she said.
“Adding, “I believe that Atoot Community Secondary School when raised shall reduce on the escalating number of School dropouts as a result of long distant Schools”.
Achayo pledges to continue supporting education programs and calls on the public to jointly work with her in bettering Ngora.
“I therefore task the construction team to ensure quality work with timeliness”, she said.
