A team of NRM cadres led by Mr. Calvin Echodu the NRM Flag bearer for Soroti City West alongside Peter Edoku, Solomon Ossiya and others partnered with SPA/PA Caroline Angolere, taking a bold step to support reformed warriors in Karamoja in a-bid to improve the relationship between Karamoja and its neighbors.
In a gesture of empowerment, the team donated an assortment of ox-ploughs, iron sheets, and SACCO funds at Naitakwae Ceremonial Grounds in Moroto, marking a shift from the long-standing battles for cattle as a way of life to a more sustainable future.
The gathering, which attracted over 1,000 reformed warriors, was not just about donations but a deeper call for communities to embrace peace and economic transformation.
Echodu Calvin and team emphasized that true change does not rest solely on government interventions but also on individuals, organizations, and well-wishers stepping in to support development.
They urged more people to join the cause, ensuring that the Karachuna stay on a path of productivity rather than reverting to old ways of cattle rustling and Nomadism.
Many beneficiaries expressed gratitude, acknowledging that this support gives them an opportunity to engage in farming and small businesses. The initiative serves as a reminder that a brighter future for Karamoja is possible when communities come together to uplift those transitioning into a new way of life. The cadres reaffirmed their commitment to such efforts, calling on businesses, leaders, and individuals to play their part in sustaining peace and development in the region.
The donation will contribute to the improvement of the relationship between Karamoja and its neighbors that has been unstable for a long time due to Cattle rustling.
