A delegation of NRM delegates from Hoima City and Bunyoro region warmly welcomed David Calvin Echodu, the aspiring NRM National Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda. The delegates, clad in yellow shirts bearing Echodu’s name, were visibly excited about the prospect of electing a new leader who promises to bring “new energy” to the party.
Ambassador Nelson Ocheger, Echodu’s campaign chairman, introduced Echodu to the delegates, highlighting his humble and down-to-earth nature. “Calvin is a man with a clear vision for the party,” Ocheger said.
Echodu himself addressed the delegates, thanking them for their support and praising the people of Hoima and Bunyoro for their enthusiasm. “Museveni has done a lot, and he still has more to do,” Echodu said.
Echodu emphasized the importance of inclusivity and cadre identification, training, and deployment. “The party is strong, but it needs slight corrections,” he said.
An elderly delegate expressed concerns about the party’s direction, stating that it has started supporting “diehards” from the opposition, leaving loyal party members feeling neglected. Echodu responded by promising to work with President Museveni to harmonize the party’s approach. “I’m an action man, not a talker. I speak less and act more,” Echodu said.
The delegates were overwhelmingly supportive of Echodu, with many blessing him and his team on a sure win. As Echodu concluded his remarks, he promised to traverse the regions of Uganda to understand the challenges facing the party and its members.
