National Guidance Commissioner Mr. J.J. Bakalikwira has emphasized the importance of embracing the NRM’s original ideology to drive meaningful change and connect with the populace. Addressing NRM flag bearers from Bukedi Sub-region, Bakalikwira urged them to accept and adhere to the party’s core agenda, enabling them to secure votes not only for themselves but also for the Head of State and NRM Chairman come 2026

“We need to accept and adhere to the party’s core agenda, enabling us to drive meaningful change, connect with the populace, and secure votes not only for ourselves but also for the Head of State and NRM Chairman,” Bakalikwira said.
The appeal was made during a meeting at Rock Hotel in Tororo, attended by prominent leaders, including Hon. David Calvin Echodu, NRM National Vice Chairman for Eastern Region, former spokesperson Ofwono Opondo, Cabinet minister in charge of Defence and veterans affairs Hon. Oboth Oboth, Hon. Sarah Opendi, and Hon. Orone Derrick, MP for Gogonyo Hon Angura Fredrick to mention but afew
“A revolution is not a bed of roses. A revolution is a struggle to the death between the future and the past that our leader did his part.” Bakalikwira noted, highlighting the importance of perseverance and dedication to the party’s cause.
Echodu’s agenda focuses on mobilizing support for President Museveni’s bid, emphasizing grassroots engagement, transparency, and inclusive leadership. This is his first consultative meeting with party leaders in Bukedi Sub-Region since his election as a CEC Member on August 27, 2025.

“Revolution is the liberation of the mind from the chains of oppression,” Bakalikwira added, emphasizing the need for NRM leaders to think critically.
Echodu is focused on revitalizing grassroots support for the NRM Party and President Museveni as per his manifesto. The meeting brings together NRM flag bearers, MPs, LCVs, religious leaders, youth leaders, RDCs, and security officials to discuss strategies for mobilizing support and promoting the party’s agenda.
“Courage is the first step toward revolution; without it, change remains a dream,” Bakalikwira said, urging NRM leaders to be courageous and bold in their pursuit of the party’s objectives.
