The TORORO District Police Commander Ahmed Kimuli confirmed Omaset’s arrest nothing that it would set a bad precedent for the district to deploy staff basing on tribe, secondly it is unlawful to assault the person of a CAO.

TORORO – Police in TORORO have in custody the Morukatipe sub- county Lc iii chairperson, Gerald Omaset Obbo of the National Resistance -NRM Party on charges of assaulting the district chief Administrative officer Gabriel Atama during a Friday Agust,25,2023 fracas.
Omaset the politician who became famous for rat eating in demand for the creation of TORORO county is currently detained at TORORO Central Police Station.
Sources reveal that he allegedly slapped the CAO for refusing to transfer the current sub county chief of Morukatipe on grounds that he is a Japadhola by tribe as he demanded for his tribe met an Etesot as replacement.
In fact time and again the chairman has been reportedly issuing statements fueling tribalism, that it is a taboo for a non itesot to serve in his sub county, a matter that the district administration rejected, according to an inside source.

“He has a big problem, last financial year the same chairman petitioned the minister of local government about his desire to transfer the sub county chief, however the district leaders informed the minister during the meeting about the impact and the status that was maintained”, Kimuli said.
The DPC who presided over the arrest says Omaset was picked alongside Jacob Anyere Salomon peso and Steven Owuma with whom he stormed the CAO’s officer armed with placards protesting
It is also confirmed that on Wednesday August 23,2023, the same sub county chairperson with his group first closed the office the sub county chief, demanding his transfer the police preferred charges of unlawful assembly and being public nuisance.
