Oyam South parliamentary aspirant, Patrick Ogwang Obura, launched a donation of 760 Kuroiler chickens worth 7.6 million shillings to Kamdini Blockers and Loaders Association over the weekend. Out of the total, 150 chickens were distributed during the event held at Kamdini Sub County headquarters.
Represented by his political assistant, Otim Moses Janani, Obura urged the youth—comprising tipper drivers, car brokers, and loaders—to diversify their income by investing in poultry farming alongside their regular work. He emphasized that this initiative aims to boost household incomes, especially for those with limited land.
Bony Ojok, chairperson of the association, expressed gratitude, although the group received only five chickens each instead of the expected ten. He pledged that the chickens would be used productively.
Jenifer Akulu, a member, also praised Obura’s support, noting that it would help her expand her poultry project and eventually invest in cattle farming.
Peter Odyek, a supplier from Uzima Chickens, encouraged the beneficiaries to feed the chickens regularly and promised to deliver the remaining Kuroilers. Obura’s donation follows his previous contribution of 590 chickens to catechists at Minakulu Catholic Parish, reflecting his commitment to empowering local communities.
