Kaberamaido District– In a bid to amplify President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s call to action, aspiring candidate for Ochero County, Francis Okullo, has called on all members of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) to actively participate in the critical activities leading up to the 2026 General Elections.
This appeal follows the launch of the voter verification exercise and the update of the national voters’ register by the Electoral Commission, which started on January 7, 2025, and is set to run until January 10, 2025.
During this exercise, the names of registered voters will be prominently displayed at every polling station across Uganda, allowing individuals to confirm their eligibility to participate in the upcoming elections.
Okullo emphasized the importance of this process, stating, “I would like to task all NRM cardholders to mobilize and sensitize Ugandans about this crucial exercise, the update is a major undertaking that requires widespread public participation.”
He further noted that this initiative is essential for ensuring credible elections and encouraged all voters to take part.
“The NRM government has always ensured that every Ugandan can exercise their voting rights in a calm and respectful environment,” Okullo added.
As the 2025-2026 election period approaches, he stressed the significance of conducting a peaceful, lawful, and inclusive electoral process, a sentiment that has been a hallmark of previous elections.
“An accurate and clean voters’ register is key to ensuring a fair electoral process,” Okullo stated, calling upon all eligible Ugandans to engage actively in this important electoral framework activity.
In a letter to NRM leaders, President Museveni, in his capacity as NRM chairman, communicated the announcement from the National Electoral Commission regarding the upcoming elections and urged all party leaders—ranging from the Central Executive Committee (CEC) to district and parish leaders—to mobilize support for participation in the electoral processes.
The voter verification exercise will begin with the registration and verification phase from January 20 to February 10, 2025.
During this period, registered voters will have the opportunity to verify their details at their respective polling stations.
As such, Okullo’s call to action emphasizes the collaborative effort required for a smooth and transparent electoral process in Uganda.
